About Marvel Tan

My dad wants me to be marvellous!I aspire to be proficient in the area of automation and robotics. This passion stems from as early as my university days where I experienced the heartache of seeing laborious tasks being done manually in the shipyards. It made me realise the power of automation and the benefits it can bring to help better the lives of people. This purpose has been my main motivator since then.My career started in the oil and gas industry. There, I learnt the importance of good process management and the need for innovative thinking. It was then that I went on to tackle automation challenges in an operational environment. This move opened my eyes to the vast knowledge and skills required in order to deal a meaningful impact.Along the way, with the successful implementations of a few Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and robotics system, I have picked up end-to-end solution design thinking skills on top of robot programming and specific product expertise. Here, project/product management skillset has been a key area of growth. Through the projects that I have led, the team was guided towards delivering significant cost savings by implementing process improvements via digital technologies. I am grateful for these opportunities and I know there is a lot more that I will need to learn.Right now, I am just razor focus on rolling out projects and working on products because I am really digging the joy of seeing a meaningful project come to fruition, propagating these positive impacts one project / one feature at a time.Do reach out and connect if you too, believe in automation and robotics, project management and digital transformation!
