Background
About Marvin Fairman
Dr. Fairman is the president and co-founder of Organizational Health. He has extensive experience utilizing the diagnostic and development process in public schools throughout the country. He has applied these data-driven strategies in urban, suburban, rural, and county school systems. He has also provided these services for state agencies, private businesses, merchandising companies, financial institutions and universities. He began his career as a classroom teacher in a suburban district (Raytown) in Kansas City, Missouri and as a principal in an urban community (University City) in St. Louis. He spent the next 20 years as a professor of Educational Administration at the University of Arkansas. During his tenure as a professor, he specialized in leadership and organizational development, personnel and conflict management. He also coordinated a three year, three-phase, research project that culminated in operationally defining the Organizational Health Instrument (OHI) and in establishing reliability and validity. Dr. Fairman became a full professor in 1981 and received the College of Education Educational Research Award in 1982. As a professor, he was a frequent speaker within the professional community, published many articles and authored several books. His writing was focused on the development of practical strategies for improving the quality of leadership throughout organizations. Because of the demand for his consultant services, he left the university in 1991 and was granted professor emeritus status. With this full time commitment to OHDDC, Fairman set out to recruit and train a team of consultants to deliver these diagnostic and development services. In 1995, he moved the OHDDC headquarters to the Dallas area, where he continues to recruit, train and develop additional consultants. As a result of his professional training and experiences, he serves as a sounding board and confidant for superintendents and other key leaders across the United States.
