About Marvin Powell

I am an MBA student, currently working with an insurance company as a claims representative looking forward to my next role as a manager I am in my act two, I enjoyed owning, running and growing my transportation service and I am glad for what I was able to bring to the community. Through hard work, patience and dedication I created something that was able to service a need of Greensboro and I was able to provide others employment opportunities. It was never work no matter how many hours I invested during the week because I was passionate about what I was doing and loved it. The business took care of my needs and wants however markets can change, some expand, others contract while others may even disappear, when my earnings began to be impacted by the shifts in how people get around I decided to move into another lane. I have found delegating task and leading others to improve performance is rewarding, I am looking forward to demonstrating those functions in my future role. I have excelled in all the positions I have held since the beginning of my career. Before and through the pandemic I trained several waves of new Apple Support Advisors and also mentored several waves of Senior Apple Support Advisors to assist in their acclamation to their new role as managers. I truly was happy with the opportunity to teach and guide and to see some of those who I taught rise to the senior level. After my time at Kelly with Apple I moved to sales with Asurion. I see sales as the life of a business and I wanted to learn to make an impact. Once I matured into the sales role the idea of learning other lines of business began to draw my attention. I transitioned from technical support and sales to claims. The claims department for the product I support was still a pilot program that has now grown from a couple of small teams to several teams of claims representatives. When the need for advisors grew I was able to support the new teams as they transitioned to floor support from the classroom as a Peer Advisor. I am looking forward to utilizing my leadership background, effective communication, problem solving and analytical abilities to make a difference within my next managerial role.
