Current hands-on operational expertise including both network and end system (server and client) hardware and software. • Extensive experience designing, implementing, operating and troubleshooting: • Cisco router and switch products - Catalyst series, Nexus 2k, 5k and 7k series data center switches • Multiple vendors’ Firewalls and VPN devices– Cisco ASA including NGFW (CX), Juniper Netscreen (200 and ISG series) and SRX, Checkpoint R55 and R60, and SourceFire Defense Center • Multiple vendors’ load balancers – Citrix Netscaler, Cisco CSS and ACE, F5 BigIP, and Sun Secure Application Switch • Cisco optical transport products (ONS 15454 and 15600 multiservice SONET platforms and 15216 DWDM platform) • Designed, implemented and operated systems using a broad range of technologies including: • Fast, Gigabit, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (multiple 802.3 standards) over copper, multimode and single mode fiber optic cabling (and structured cabling systems for those media types in both data center and distributed wiring scenarios); • Policy and route-based firewall policies and IPSec VPNs in a multi-vendor, multi-enterprise setting • Server load balancing using Layer 4 though Layer 7 rules and including SSL offload and X.509 certificate management • BGP, OSPF and EIGRP routing instances (plus static and connected, of course) • IPv6 routing, firewalling and load balancing in a dual stack implementation. • Configured, administered and operated Network Management systems, protocol analyzers and test tools including: • Cisco network management tools including CiscoPrime Infrastructure and Cisco Prime LMS • Solarwinds Orion - multiple products • Open source products including Nagios, Catci and RANCID • Packet and protocol analyzers (e.g. Wireshark) Specialties: Network Engineering - all phases
