About Marwah A.

Born and raised in a country just beginning to heal from the devastation of two decades of war, Marwah Azizi witnessed firsthand how inequitable healthcare access can mean the difference between life and death. These experiences ignited her lifelong commitment to transforming healthcare systems to better serve marginalized and underserved communities. A dedicated leader in STEM, public health, and Activist, Marwah has seven years of experience working across hospitals, public health organizations, student-led initiatives, and humanitarian efforts. She has held research and leadership roles at University Health Network, the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and the Syrian Canadian Foundation, contributing to oncology research, health equity programs, and refugee health advocacy. As a CanStudyUS Fellow with the Dais Institute, she has engaged in high-level policy discussions, further solidifying her expertise in public health and disaster response. Marwah is the Founder and President of Connect Health Leaders (CHL) at Toronto Metropolitan University, a student-led organization that fosters innovative healthcare solutions and addresses pressing public health challenges. She has also held executive positions in organizations dedicated to improving healthcare access for refugees, immigrants, and racialized communities. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Public Health from Toronto Metropolitan University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Disaster and Emergency Management (MDEM) at York University. She was also a selected member of the inaugural Student Advisory Council for the Toronto Metropolitan University School of Medicine, representing public health perspectives in the shaping of Canada’s newest medical school. Her research focuses on infectious diseases, public health policy, and the intersection of emergency management and health systems. Recognized for her leadership, research, and advocacy, Marwah is committed to leveraging her expertise to drive meaningful policy change and build resilient, equitable healthcare systems. She actively shares insights and engages with her community through her social media platforms, demonstrating her dedication to knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and impactful change.
