About Mary Guzzy

SEPTEMBER 2025, I am now officially retired from SUNY Corning Community College. I have returned to pursuing professional opportunities in theatre, film, and television. I integrated scenes from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet with Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, Suite 2, directing 10 students in a performance with the orchestra at the Corning Museum of Glass, under the superb direction of Toshiyuki Shimada! A rich creative experience.Jan. 2024 Update: I have just completed a week-long Acting Intensive, focusing on the work of Tennessee Williams with Karen Kohlhaas of Atlantic Theatre. During that week in Clarksdale, Mississippi, I was privileged to do a public reading of a new work by Lucy Thurber. After 19 years as a college professor, building a two-year training and transfer curriculum for students in the SUNY system, I am looking forward to more professional acting opportunities again, as I shift the focus of my academic work to coordinate with my life as a professional artist.I am a teaching artist and passionate advocate for the arts as foundational to a healthy and vibrant civil society. My mission in life is to create theatre and to inspire the next generation of theatre artists!
