About Mary Jennifer Giessler

Having spent my early career working in Advancement, I took several years to focus my time, energy and talents on raising two amazing daughters. Those years were far from idle. I became a “professional” volunteer - chairing school sponsored events, leading my college’s Alumni Board, and actively participating in my local community. Wanting to get back into the world of paid work, I intentionally sought a part-time position that aligned with my values and desire to work directly with people. I found the perfect job as a Coordinator for Generation Two (G2). I was able to take my leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and bring value to the senior volunteers and students with whom I worked. As with many jobs, the pandemic severely limited our ability to serve the student and senior populations at the heart of G2. After several months at home with my family, I decided to get back into the public school setting I’d grown to love by becoming a paraprofessional. For the past year and a half, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students in the K-8 levels. I’ve loved using everything I’ve learned as a professional and as a parent to help create a caring and supportive learning environment. I came into the job as students were transitioning back to the classroom from virtual learning. Anyone who has worked in a school setting the past two years can do ANYTHING!
