About Mary Kerr

My teaching career has taken me to many places around the world from Northern California to Australia, Thailand and Scotland. I feel that Science Education is an opportunity to change the world by educating students to live purposeful futures and be solution focused.I have had several roles in leadership and most recently as Assistant Principal of Methodist Ladies' College. This curriculum design role was a great opportunity to share my passion for project based learning but it took me away from what I love most and that is teaching. I then became the Head of Student Leadership and developed a leadership curriculum for the students as well as teaching Marine Science and Engineering. I developed specific problems for the students to focus on and create solutions for both of all these classes. I am always amazed at what our students can design! I am now off on a new adventure, moving back to California and taking up the role of Science Chair at Drew School. I am excited to work at this progressive and innovative school and continue my passion for Understanding by Design and Project Based Learning.
