About Mason Stark

I have over 20 years of experience working in the Hedge Fund Industry. I've held positions as a Generalist Equity Analyst, Trader, and Portfolio Manager in alternative asset strategies, such as Domestic Hedged Equity and traditional Long/Short funds. I’ve managed portfolios with over $1 billion in gross assets, and have experience navigating through volatile markets successfully: gross returns flat in 2008. My investment philosophy and process is based on a deep value, fundamental bottoms-up approach, with extensive use of balance and cash-flow sheet analysis. I have a history of successful performance as a short selling investor, generating positive alpha in 86% of the quarters dating back to 2005. While I have been a generalist in my sector coverage historically, almost half of all investments initiated have been from the Industrial and Materials sectors over the last decade. I’ve had direct exposure to over 20% of the addressable universe,(stocks with over 200 million in market cap), in these two sectors at some point over the last 8 years. I have experience writing investment reports for both internal and external publication. In the past I've also held NASD FINRA Series 7, 56, and 63 certifications.
