About Massimo Bogliolo

Prof. Massimo Bogliolo is currently an associate professor of Genetics at the Faculty of Biosciences of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He is also a senior scientist at the Unit of Genomic Medicine, Institut de Recerca de l’Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Barcelona. He has a PhD in Genetics and postdoctoral experiences in Spain (EU Marie Curie post-doctoral Fellowship) and France (Association pour la Recherche sur le Cancer” fellowship). Between 2007and 2020, he held a permanent position as staff researcher in the Unit 745, of the Consortium for Biomedical Research in rare Diseases (CIBER-ER) of the Carlos Health Institute, Spain. Throughout his career his research activity has been focused on the fields of Genetics, Mutagenesis and Oncology, the main topics being DNA repair and rare inherited genetic diseases, and cancer genetics. He is specialist in the field of cancer predisposition syndromes and he has contributed with the discovery of novel causative genes in cancer, Fanconi anemia, Bloom syndrome and others. He is the leading scientist of FA/BRCA pathway molecular genetics line of study of the Unit of Genomic Medicine. He is inventor of 1 patent and published more then 45 publications, including articles in Nature Communications, Nature Medicine, Cell Stem Cells, Blood, Am J Hum Genet, Genetics in Medicine (2098 citations, H factor of 25, i10 index of 32).
