About Massimo Cannavo

I moved to Australia from Italy in 2009. After working for 20 years in hospitality, in 2012 I have decided to change my career and have obtained IT certifications. I have then moved to work in the IT field, joining small private organisations. This gave me the opportunity to vastly improve my skills and gain confidence in the IT industry. From April 2017 I became part of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, working initially in the double role of IT and Business Support Officer, providing Help Desk support to the Staff and Members of the AAT and collaborating with the Business Support team for what concerns Procurement, Risk Management and asset management. After 18 months in these roles, I have been acting as a Network Administrator first, and a Cyber Security Officer after. Together with new education experiences and the grant of a Diploma in Networking, exponentially increasing my knowledge of Infrastructure technology. For the past 3,5 years I have been in the role of Assistant Director - Platform Services, the team that takes care of the maintenance and support of the IT Infrastructure Network for the AAT offices around Australia, maintaining the current hybrid environment between On Prem and Cloud workload, being first point of escalation for the Service Desk and the Application Support teams, for what concerns backend infrastructure issues. Apart from the business as usual activities, the Platform Services team is also highly involved with projects regarding new systems implementation, where embracing the Agile Methodology, cooperate with members of the wider Technology Group, strengthening the relation with internal and external stakeholders. This role has helped me to further grow as a team manager, as well as exposing me to the development and the transformation of the AAT Network and its way of working, learning Agile concepts and becoming a Scrum Master. I have recently joined the DevOps team to re-develop the business critical applications, improving my skills in the DevOps field. All my jobs have been customer related positions and I have been praised repeatedly on my customer services skills. I am used to dealing with people over the whole range, including my fellow staff members and stakeholders. I can fluently speak two languages and have a good knowledge of a third.
