About Massimo Chies

Since 2014 I am the façade specialist for the cost team in AECOM. My areas of expertise are: Market intelligence: I’m constantly in touch with the largest cladding contractors operating in the UK market. Other than keeping track of their recent activities and data, I collect key financial information to flag any potential issues for all AECOM clients. I can suggest the most suitable contractors in the industry on the basis of the technical challenges and size of the various projects. Benchmarks: AECOM large portfolio of projects allows me to get a comprehensive view of different cladding typologies and their application. Each project is catalogued by location, size, Stakeholders involved (Clients, Architects, Consultants, Contractors), programme, cladding typology and of course cost, with a detailed breakdown of measured works, design and other preliminaries costs. Cost estimates: I created an estimating tool to assess façade budgets. My close relationship with key suppliers and installers allows me to test and verify rates at every stage of cost planning. Design influence: During the key early stages of design I can assess the cost impact of different finishes or performance requirements, suggesting alternative solutions to the design team.
