About Massimo Rosti

Traffic Management Systems (TMS) permit to increase the efficiency of the railway traffic for simple lines, regions or for entire countries. Every day we need to manage an always increasing functional and technological complexity with the responsibility to move safely and on time people and goods supporting properly Railway Operators and guaranteeing business continuity. Our job is to solve problems and to find solutions often under pression, frequently in short time and sometimes making also mistakes. But we are a team. We are flexible. And we try to make enjoyable all of this. In the day by day activities everybody must be little Project Manager, managing uncertainty, incompleteness of the variables and taking decisions in short time; as the anthropologists Ingold and Bateson suggested, we need to embody our technical and management skills: to manage problems must be like to go by cycling and the agile approach is more in line with the natural “thinking through making” ability of mankind. All of this is helpful when you manage so complex systems. I’ m a computer scientist, I ‘m an anthropologist (a bit) and I do theatre because I’ m fascinated by how interdisciplinary knowledge opens the mind to always new innovative solutions and helps me and my team in our job.
