About Mateus Camillo

I had been at Folha for only two months, covering a vacation period, when the editorial department was shut down. After two hours in limbo, the editor approached me and said:"There's an opening in social media, to publish on Facebook. Are you up for it?" I replied,"I want to work. I'm in." From that chance moment, a successful combination was born. At the newspaper, I worked as a social media manager, assistant editor, and editor. I led a team of over ten people, innovated in language for Folha's Threads on Twitter and Não Durma sem Saber on Instagram Stories, managed cross-department projects like Web Stories and social media advertising, and developed strategies for new platforms like TikTok and Telegram. I also handled reader interactions and achieved goals, such as surpassing direct rivals in Instagram followers. I'm a multifaceted professional with skills in writing, communication, leadership, and teamwork, and I possess extensive knowledge of digital tools. I consider myself bold, creative, constantly seeking innovation, and attentive to market changes. I strive to maintain a good sense of humor and calm, even in the most stressful situations. As a manager, I always aimed to be open and transparent with my team. At the end of 2022, tired of the return to the office, I decided to change course and resigned from Folha to travel and work remotely. Along this journey, I received an offer to manage social media for SUMAÚMA, a trilingual platform covering the climate crisis from the Amazon. Since then, environmental journalism has become an area of great interest and study for me. I also maintain a newsletter on Substack about travel, nomadism, and remote work.
