About Mateus Fonseca

Cybersecurity Consultant at BNP Paribas CIB with a Master’s in Strategic and Risk Communication and over 5 years of experience working in high pressure, fast delivery environments where clarity and accountability are critical. My career began in communication, managing crisis scenarios, stakeholder alignment and operational risk in dynamic organizations such as Airbnb, Fujitsu and 5TART. Over time, I became increasingly drawn to the structures behind risk, governance and decision making. That curiosity led me into cybersecurity, where I now work within the Application Security team at BNP.Today, I analyze and validate the security controls of internal banking applications, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity standards, audit requirements and regulatory expectations. I document vulnerabilities and non compliance risks, support governance processes, contribute to internal improvement initiatives and escalate critical risks (CISO). My focus is not only technical accuracy, but also risk communication, making complex security matters understandable and actionable for different stakeholders.I am driven by challenges, continuous learning and environments where precision matters. Fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, I use communication as a strategic pillar to connect security, process and people. For me, cybersecurity is not only about controls. It is about responsibility, clarity and protecting what enables organizations to operate with confidence.
