About Mateusz Wrobel

I am a fourth year Civil Engineering student at the University of Aberdeen who previously graduated from Chemistry Technical College with Honours. I am an ambitious and hard-working man who can fully commit to the assigned tasks and seek the new opportunities to develop new skills. I chose to study civil engineering because I believe that the world needs engineers who truly want make a positive impact. I see myself as this person and I work on developing the necessary skills for this role every day, either while studying engineering concepts or preparing my mind to be open and creative outside University.I am currently holding a position of a president of Civil Engineering Society at the University of Aberdeen while being a young member of Aberdeen Association of Civil Engineers and a student member of Institute of Civil Engineers.I always try to widen my horizons while expanding my interests or trying out new things. Some of my passions are sport, especially swimming, calisthenics and circus arts such as juggling, unicycle, handstand. I am passionate about music. I love seeing tangible results of my work that is why I'm happily involved in tasks such as practical laboratories, writing scientific and engineering reports. The other area I am passionate about is crystallography. The task of making crystals by slow evaporation of chemical solutions helps me develop various skills like commitment, paying attention to details or creativity. I took part in the International IUCr Crystal Growing Competition and within the same academic year my school awarded me the Personality of the Year 2017 for curricular and co-curricular activities. Following that, I received Prime Minister Scholarships for the highest grades in the entire school.I constantly try to develop my abilities while being involved in many activities such as student projects, societies, working two jobs. This gives me an opportunity to develop the skills like time management, attention to details, prioritising, teamwork or proactive and analytical thinking.I love travelling; jobs and countries I had a chance to visit changed my perspective and gave me a better understanding of diversity of the world and people from different backgrounds.I believe that world can be influenced by everyone and the changes are necessary to reach the sustainable, well balanced rights
