About Mathavan Chandran

As the Executive Director - Western Offshore, ONGC at Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (Ongc), I have the overall responsibility of managing the operations in the Arabian Sea, which produce 70% of the company's O+OEG output. I also steer the newly formed Asset Integrity Group and act as the Chief Emergency Coordinator for any crisis or emergency situations. With 37+ years of upstream oil and gas experience, I have in-depth knowledge of onshore and offshore operations, well services, production operations, and execution of multi-million dollar projects. I have successfully managed the crown jewel of Indian upstream, the Mumbai High field, and the biggest offshore gas field, Bassein & Satellite Asset, which have given me the confidence and expertise to lead and innovate in this domain. I am also a member of the Working Group on Safety in Oil and Gas Operations and the National Hydrocarbon Committee of CII. I have a B.E in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering Guindy, Chennai, and a Leadership Development Programme certificate from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. I have also acquired skills in Offshore Oil and Gas Projects management, and hold a PMP certification issued by PMI. I am passionate about Process safety, Operational efficiency, and sustainability of the oil and gas industry in India and globally.
