About Matheus van Tol

I'm a public health professional and a PhD student at the Karolinska Institute. My research focuses on the effects of physical activity interventions in the physiological and psychological health of asylum seekers in Sweden. I'm an advocate for the use of physical activity as a mean to promote health and well-being. I'm a proponent of it's application as a cost-efficient public health tool, aimed to improve and maintain human health, increase social participation and community engagement, and create possibilities to positively impact people’s lives. I'm a former rowing athlete, and physical activity and training have been a part of life since I was a 12 years-old chubby kid. Currently a weightlifter, arts-and-crafts enthusiast, and hobbyist plant-grower (presently with a 50/50 survival rate). Proud pappa to Emmanuel, 9 year-old little dude who every now and then, drives me and his mamma crazy.
