About Mathew Evans

Prior to working for Brightview Landscapes, I worked for Vitale Ready Mix Concrete for six years as a quality control, quality assurance specialist. I managed jobsites and tested concrete to ensure we delivered the highest quality product to our customers. On the job I was responsible for scheduling concrete deliveries, spacing of trucks, quantities of concrete, and communicating with dispatch for any delays or updating on progress. From my first project of a 30 million gallon water tank, to highway bridge repairs and replacements, to hospital expansions I was involved in some of the largest construction projects in the Central NY area. Now as a mechanic at Brightview I am responsible for maintaining and managing a fleet of vehicles, heavy equipment, lawn mowers, and various small engine tools. I am also responsible for delegating work to employees that help out during our transition periods in the spring and fall. I am a very self-motivated individual who holds productivity at the highest regard. As I am the only mechanic at my branch I am often solely responsible for seeing that all tasks are completed. I must work efficiently to keep a fleet of 24 vehicles, 30 pieces of heavy equipment, 50 lawn mowers, and around 100 small engine tools fully operational and safe. I have a very fast paced work environment that suits me as I work well under pressure. I am good at finding out what motivates others to want to work and I use that to inspire their drive to want to work hard. I set very high expectations for those that work with me and I hold them to that standard at all times. I am a very friendly and outgoing person who also recognizes when I need to be stern with an employee to get them back on track.
