About Mathilde Cassou

J'enseigne l'anthropologie [médicale] au Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, où j'ai aussi la chance de donner des cours en formule bidisciplinaire, notamment portant sur l'ethnopsychiatrie et les enjeux d'inégalités et de discriminations passés et présents. I hold a MSc in Medical Anthropology from the University of Oxford, and a MA in bioethics from the School of Public Health of the Université de Montréal. My research interests are wide-ranging but focus on the legal, ethical and social issues surrounding the beginning of life, notably surrogacy, gamete donation, prenatal genetic screening, and global fertility mobility (reproductive tourism). I am particularly interested in the dynamics of care and the renegotiations of kinship that run through these family-building projects. I also act as copy editor for the Canadian Journal of Bioethics.
