Background

About Mathilde Galinier

Dynamic, proactive and enthusiastic, I am interested in the fascinating areas of AI and imaging, and wish to put my scientific expertise at the service of technological progress. I have just completed a Ph.D. in mathematics with a particular focus on deep learning and medical image processing, within the Department of Mathematics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). During this period, I also had the chance to work in collaboration with the University of Helsinki (Finland). My work mainly focused on the reconstruction of limited-angle tomographic data, using deep neural networks and machine learning techniques. This Ph.D. was financed both by the National Institute of Mathematics of Italy (INdAM), and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Before starting my Ph.D. in Modena, I completed a 5-year education in a renowned French engineering school (INSA Toulouse) in August 2017. Thus, I hold an Engineering Degree in Applied Mathematics, with a specialisation in numerical methods and modelling. During my studies, I have acquired a solid knowledge in terms of applied mathematics and programming, and in particular in image processing. I especially had the opportunity to work on several projects relating to image registration, compression, and multi-spectral images. Beyond all the skills and the knowledge I have been imparted until now, I most importantly developed a real taste for learning and the capacity to adapt to any situation. This is what makes my greatest strength. My passion for travelling led me to study and work in different countries: Spain, Canada, Germany, Italy, Finland. Thus, I had the opportunity not only to perfect my Spanish, Italian and English skills, but also to explore new cultures and work methods.
