About Mathilde Gingembre

I am an interdisciplinary researcher and consultant working at the intersection of political ecology and critical agrarian studies, with fifteen years of experience in land politics, socio-spatial and environmental injustices, climate governance and rural livelihoods. I am a coordinating editor at the (open-access, peer-reviewed) Degrowth journal and have acted as a regular reviewer for top-ranked journals since 2015. I also work as a content editor for the Land Portal Foundation. My research focuses on citizen mobilisation in the context of extractivism and land enclosures and explores the impact of green capitalism on land rights and agrarian livelihoods. I have designed and conducted research projects in various geographical areas (Madagascar, Jordan, France, Scotland, and the Czech Republic) and participated in several European and international transdisciplinary research projects. I am currently developing a project on land justice and citizen mobilisation in the context of France's energy transition. I have a background in political science (Science-Po Lille and Sorbonne-Paris 1, France) and in anthropology (School of Oriental and African Studies, London and INALCO, Paris), an MA in social research methods (University of Sussex, UK), and a PhD in development studies from the University of Sussex (UK).
