About Mats van Dijk

I am an ambitious but sober young professional with a curious mind, a sharp pen, and interests spanning across many different fields. A product of my academic background in History, International Relations and Russian & Eurasian Studies, my executive involvement in various (inter)national associations, and my professional experience as a strategic consultant, I bring a mixed set of skills into my work. Among which: a capacity to synthesize large sets of data with an eye for nuance, a natural feel for people, a knack for translating strategy into tangibles, and an ability to think on my feet and keep a cool head in tense situations. I currently work as a sustainability advisor at Cauberg Huygen in Rotterdam. Essentially, I visit companies throughout The Netherlands and assess whether they are in compliance with environmental regulations and take all necessary measures to increase their sustainability. In my time as a strategic consultant with Prospex BV in Brussels, I dealt with participatory strategy, foresight, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation for a variety of international organisations, including the UN Environmental Program (UNEP), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), and the EU External Action Service (EEAS). Additionally, I am a member of the civilian expert mission pool of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, meaning that I am eligible for deployment in conflict areas as a civilian. This on account of my knowledge of topics such as European foreign and security policy, disinformation, civil-military cooperation, security sector reform, and Eastern Europe (particularly Russian, Ukrainian and Georgian history & politics, as well as Russian language).
