About Matt Buckman

As the Director of UCAN, I have been leading a social enterprise that provides innovative and bespoke training for individuals who face barriers to education and employment as well as those who feel excluded from their communities and face their own challenges in relation to confidence and social anxiety. Since 2012, I have been working with my two business partners to create a diverse and contextualised training environment that covers a range of sectors and skills, from hospitality and gardening to construction and IT. Importantly, we offer a significant number of work experience and employment opportunities in house. Furthermore, we also offer a range of activities that promote health and well being, social development and independent living skills. Fun and inclusion are at the heart of what we do!With over 20 years of experience in social work and further education, I have a strong background in public policy and management, as well as curriculum and staff development. I am passionate about empowering and enabling people to learn, work, and live independently and confidently. I am always looking for new opportunities and partnerships to expand and improve our training provision and outcomes.
