What's my story? Let’s be honest, nobody grows up dreaming to become a recruiter… anybody who says they do, is probably lying. I thought by my mid-30's I’d have 5 Premier League titles to my name and enjoying early retirement, but here I am! Turns out I was more ‘Sunday League’, but the social skills I’d picked up through sports helped land my first job in recruitment over a decade ago, and it’s been quite the journey since… Not all smooth sailing - the cultures in those first few agency roles were like trading floors that you see in films – high ego, hustle and bustle, with a bell ringing for each successful ‘sale’. I realised quickly why recruitment gets such a bad rep – ‘consultants’ placing too much emphasis on the bottom line, treating candidates and clients like a piece of stock, rather than people. Long story short, I didn’t embrace the cutthroat environment and as a result, I didn’t ‘bill’ as much as others, so I got fired, twice.[hire] I then founded [hire] — to do recruitment the right way. It’s hard not to sound cliché, but my promise from day one has been that the business will never chase profits or adopt a ‘bums on seats’ mentality. Instead, we focus only on jobs where we genuinely believe we can add value to both candidate and client. By putting your livelihoods first and prioritising your success —whether it’s growing your business or advancing in your career — our success will naturally follow. To me, that’s how recruitment should be: honest, straightforward, and mutually beneficial for everyone involved. Whilst getting [hire] off the ground, I recruited in the creative industries, placing talent within design and marketing, film and media, tech and digital. I then expanded to the gaming sector, working with Indie & studios to place Unity C# programmers. More recently, I’ve returned to my roots in Construction & Engineering, and now that our talent pools are fully developed, I plan on scaling the business further within these fields. 🤝How can I help you?
