I started my new career as 3rd yr. apprentice. I was advanced due to my 14yrs as a Union Ironworker. My first call to work was with OCC Systems building a new package handling conveyor system for FedEx at the Indianapolis Airport. On arrival my job task was to be a welder. It was about 2 months before I was asked to become a Foreman tasked to oversee the Installation of several hanging mezzanines. Along with my Foreman position I was also tasked with welding and overseeing multiple other welders. Around 4 months being with OCC I was asked to rise up and be head of the QC for the entire job. After 6 months I was raised to the position of a Connector. As a connector I was tasked to assemble the structure by bolts or weld, rig iron, signal a crane and operate a JLG. Around 8 months as a pre-apprentice I was given my first non-contract raise to Journeyman status as well as many more tasks such as reading blueprints and running detail work like installing angle, frames and decking. In 2016 I began to run work as a Structural Foreman/Gen. Foreman.
