About Matt Corwin

My interest in computers and technology really began in 1993 at the age of 12 years old. Upon starting at a new school mid-year, the institution recognized that their math curriculum did not match my advanced placement. Consequently, my algebra teacher provided me with a book on programming in Basic. By the end of 7th grade, I had written a 1400-line code for the card game "21," an experience that would significantly influence my future career path. At the age of 19, I developed a program for a local restaurant franchise that transitioned their operations from using three 3" binders to managing the store via that desktop computer in the back. This program integrated inventory management, payroll, and other asset management tasks, reducing the time required for these activities from dozens of hours to a few minutes each week. In 2008 I received my first official break into the industry. A local software company was looking for a report developer. On a nudge from my father, I offered to work for free to prove my software skill and they took me up on the offer. I was given 90 days to prove my proficiency with SQL. I cut my teeth as a Crystal Reports Developer in a relationship that would last 6 years. I migrated to the Networking department and graduated into a Networking/System Administrator for Local Government in North Idaho. During this time I discovered a pasion for Linux. I quickly found a home developing interesting ways to implement Linux in my career as well as my personal life. I was using Qmail instead of Exchange, Shorewall rather than Cisco, and deploying web services and traffic monitoring at every opportunity. Enter Calix in 2014. for almost a decade now, I've worked at Calix where currently, I lead our Cloud Delivery Team. I'm responsible for establishing processes cross-functionally within Calix and externally with our partners to streamline the implementation of Calix Cloud. My team works directly with customers (BSP’s) to implement Calix Cloud within partner environments. Calix offers two separate approaches to integrate with Calix Cloud. Calix can take a nightly database via SFTP or Partners can integrate using our REST API’s, all implemented by us in Cloud Delivery. It's not always work for me, I've raced off-road motorcycles at the highest level, performed on-stage in a many worship bands, and I love heading into the mountains in the jeep with my wife, our little girl, and our dogs!
