About Matt Cubbison

To whom it may concern, I believe, through the different positions I have held, that I have the skills required to succeed in a variety of positions. Entering college, I wanted to pursue a job where I would be able to make a difference in the lives of others, I had just always assumed that would come in the medical field. However, during my senior year I decided to look into the world of finance and, after talking with some current financial advisors, it quickly peaked my interest. Like the medical field, I saw that it was a way to help others and make a big impact in the lives of many. It also became clear that the skills I have been building up over the years fit well with the skills needed to succeed in not only the financial field but others as well. Each position I held required me to interact and build relationships with guests and clients in some form or another. At Denison Golf Club, I would build relationships with members each and every day as well as interacting with new faces that would come into the club. As an assistant contractor for Dearborn Woodworks, I got to see how a small business operates from the inside and learned how to talk to and develop relationships with clients within the personal settings of their homes. With Barnes & Noble, as well as Target, I continued to interact with guests on a daily basis while creating a welcoming environment for those who came to the establishment. I also worked to develop my interpersonal relationship skills throughout my time in college, as I received a Certificate for Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement, which focused on learning about the different backgrounds people come from and how to build inclusive environments for each and every person. On top of developing my skills when it comes to interpersonal relationships, I was blessed to receive the opportunity to hold multiple positions of leadership through both work and school. At Ohio State, I served as the VP of Events for the Exercise is Medicine Club, reaching out to organizations and groups in order to plan events for our club. Then, at Denison Golf Club, I was promoted from Clubhouse Attendant to Clubhouse Attendant Supervisor which required me to oversee the day to day operations of my fellow co-workers, making sure the required tasks were accomplished.
