About Matt Culver

I am a 2nd year graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to moving to Madison, I worked in the University of Iowa Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory where I analyzed the effects of high energy fractures in the ankle. My current research is focused on characterizing the structural and mechanical properties of soft tissue affected by congenital heart diseases, with a specific interest in aortic coarctation. Previously, I worked in Iowa City as a part-time clinical field representative for Boston Scientific in the cardiac rhythm management division while also maintaining my duties in the orthopedic lab. In this position, I was able to combine my technical engineering skills with my soft skills to solve problems on the fly and clearly communicate my findings with physicians. Prior to this role, I participated in a cooperative education role at CIVCO Medical Solutions, a small engineering company in Iowa which produces ultrasound probes and accessories. I grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa in 2021 with a BS in Biomedical Engineering. Feel free to reach me at mculver2@wisc.edu.
