Bio Matt Denton Insatiable curiosity It's a great characteristic for a photographer to posses. Where others may see everyday life, I see extraordinary images. With my camera, like a painter with his brush, I seize that specific emotional instant when the subject and light come together. I capture the moment. My pictures tell a story. I capture life’s fleeting moments. Just as in life, the images evoke memories, feelings and emotions. Whether it's a proud five year old holding a flag at the annual parade, a butterfly perched on a young girl's nose, to a spectacular sunset to end another perfect day. Each image resonates with the beauty of life. Great images don’t just happen. Forethought and awareness are just a part of it. Anticipating the moment, however, is key to getting the shot. I make sure I am in the right place at the right time. I thrive in any photographic environment, be it low light, brilliant sunlight, and all points in between. My goal is to capture that defining image, that captures the moment, the one that tells the story. 20 years in the magazine industry has given me invaluable experience in effective composition, lighting, backgrounds, and most importantly, subject matter. My goal remains: to capture an event, not to control it. This remains true whether it is a photo story, a wedding, a lifestyle portrait, or shooting editorial & stock images.
