About Matt Dil

I am a Senior Ecologist at WSP and my main specialization is birds/ornithology, but I also have knowledge and experience with bats, herpetofauna and terrestrial Species at Risk. My primary roles are- Conducting and coordinating Breeding Bird surveys, Amphibians Calling surveys and wildlife habitat assessments - Analyzing and managing ecological data, and contributing to reports including Environmental Impact Studies/Assessments and Natural Environment Technical Reports - Interpreting applicable policies and legislation such as the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Birds Convention Act and Provincial Policy Statement - Significant Wildlife Habitat- Project management I enjoy working in environmental consulting because it is challenging, constantly changing, and it allows me to spend time outdoors and keep learning more about nature. Before joining Group, I gained a diverse background in other areas of environmental consulting including: air and water quality; environmental monitoring (specifically for stormwater management facilities), waste management and auditing; greenhouse gas emission inventories and sustainability. I completed a Master’s in Environment and Resource Studies at the University of Waterloo and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Victoria.
