About Matt Firth

I am the English Language Course Coordinator at the University of St. Gallen, where I also teach courses in Legal English, Business English, and Legal Writing and Research. Besides my university work, I am a Legal English trainer, teacher trainer and materials writer. I have written several EFL course books, teacher's books, and online workbooks for Cambridge University Press, and have also developed several online and blended learning courses for TransLegal, where I worked as Product Manager 2007-2022 before accepting a full-time position at the University of St. Gallen. I am the former editor of TransLegal's World Law Dictionary and the current editor of the English Teachers' Association of Switzerland (ETAS) Journal. I also design and run short Legal English training courses for lawyers (clients include Schwärzler Rechtsanwälte (Liechtenstein), CMS von Erlach Partners AG (Switzerland), Hengeler Mueller (Germany), the Oberlandesgericht Karlsruhe (Germany), and the Pyramid Group (Germany). I would like to contact professionals in the legal services industry who either require Legal English training or are involved in providing such courses. I am also keen to network with colleagues who share similar professional interests, especially in the areas of Legal English, Business English, ELT management, and materials design. Specialties: Legal English training, teacher training and materials development. I am a founder member of EULETA (the European Legal English Teachers' Association) where I have held the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. I have been involved in organizing many Legal English training events, workshops, conferences, presentations, teacher training sessions and courses (both online and face-to-face).
