About Matt Gelfand

Matt Gelfand has held several senior positions in the investment advisory industry, including Rockefeller & Co, the multi-family office, where he was a Managing Director responsible for more than $2 billion of client assets. He has worked with major foundations, endowments, pension plans, and high net worth families and started his career as an economist with the U.S. Federal Reserve Board.Matt served for seven years as a board member of the Rockefeller Trust Co.(Delaware). He also served on the board of directors, as chair of the compensation committee, and for more than 15 years on the investment committee of The Forward Association, the non-profit publisher of The Forward periodicals, which have been in print since 1897. Matt also served for more than 12 years on the investment committee of the Wallace Global Fund, a private foundation in Washington DC. He is on the Board of Advisors and Contributors of the Journal of Taxation of Investments.Matt has published numerous articles on investment markets and finance. His commentary has appeared in several publications including The Washington Post, The New York Times, Business Week Online, and Bloomberg News service. Matt has appeared as an economic analyst and "guest host" on CNBC's Worldwide Exchange, a live TV show broadcast globally. He has a B.A. and Ph.D. in Economics, respectively from Yale University and the University of Pennsylvania.Matt enjoys skiing and sailing. He has sailed on the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic Ocean, and inland waters, in his lifetime covering more than 3,800 nautical miles cruising and racing in all four seasons of the year, rain or shine.
