About Matt Hammond

Matt is a consultant adept at finding practical solutions for environmental challenges. He is a strategic thinker with a knack for seeing the root issues that matter to the big picture. He enjoys working with people, listening to different opinions and encouraging active decision making. Much of his recent work has been applying his expertise at the intersection of Indigenous rights, impact assessment and land and resource decisions. With two decades of experience as a team leader and environmental manager, Matt seeks to improve how society uses Impact Assessment as a tool for better decision making. He is a leader in impact assessment in Western Canada, advises on government policy and regulatory process, supports Indigenous Nations’ to make land use decisions, strengthens awareness within industries, and contributes to capacity building with Indigenous and public groups. He is a proud leader and mentor of a wonderful group of practitioners at PGL. Matt values a supportive and caring workplace that encourages autonomy and enjoyment of our work.
