About Matt Hislop

I am a 22-year old university graduate currently working for Oxalis Logistics UK as a graduate trainee on their management development program. The program spreads across 2 years, with the end goal being to give me enough experience and expertise to be able to fulfill a management position. I will be doing placements across various departments and locations across the country to give me a holistic view of the entire company and organisation. This highly reputable company is the perfect environment to learn from highly skilled professionals and adapt my skill set to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment in an industry where two days are never the same. A key part of my work experience came from Cummins Turbo Technologies, where I worked between the summers at university. Working in various roles, starting as an assembly line operator and then transitioning into an office-based position gave me valuable experience and allowed me to make valued professional and social connections with staff. At University I studied Business Management because of my passion for working with and alongside people. I truly do become the best version of myself when working with a team and driving forward projects together whilst being able to celebrate that success with others. As part of my final year project, myself and 3 others were tasked with a consultancy project for Avery Dennison looking into their internal communication strategy. Subsequently, after 3 years of studying I achieved a grade of 71% for which I was awarded a First Class Honours Degree. Another thrilling experience for me was a summer I spent at an American summer camp as a general counsellor. During this time, I looked after children ranging from the ages of 7-15 whilst enjoying and partaking in various sports and other challenges to keep them entertained. We had to face various challenges throughout the summer, but this has only made me more resilient and empathetic when put in uncomfortable situations. This experience is one that I will always look back on with fond memories and I will bring forward with me due to the life-long skills it has given me. Aside from my academic and professional pursuits, I have a strong passion for sports and enjoy spending time with friends and family. I have represented my local football and cricket teams to a competitive level and then went on to play football at university. These sporting experiences have only enriched my university and personal experience and I’m excited to see how these interests develop as I start my full-time professional career.
