About Matt Jones

I’m a certified teacher and experienced environmental field technician with a background in biology, as well as consulting and regulatory field work throughout Alberta. I’m actively seeking meaningful opportunities in conservation, compliance, or regulatory work with a conservation authority or ministry. My past experience includes habitat assessments, turbidity monitoring, horizontal directional drilling oversight, fish and amphibian salvages, spawning habitat remediation, and decommissioned pipeline monitoring. I’ve worked with OHVs, GPS/GIS, and a wide variety of monitoring equipment, while maintaining strong field documentation and stakeholder relationships. I’m passionate about protecting aquatic ecosystems and helping people better understand and preserve the natural world. I bring a rare mix of environmental field expertise, excellent communication skills, and a flexible mindset shaped by years of both field consulting and teaching. I’m also open to hybrid or seasonal opportunities that allow me to continue occasional supply teaching.
