About Matt Kitces

I am a registered US patent attorney who focuses his practice on drafting and prosecuting many classes of patent applications, as well as counseling my clients on building strong, value-rich patent portfolios. I regularly deal with a wide variety of technology areas, including mechanical, electrical, medical devices, software applications, and complex systems, among others. I am especially skilled at quickly understanding complex technical systems and devices, as well as being able to relate these concepts to others in unique ways. I bring substantial value to my clients by applying these skills in my interactions with inventors, patent examiners, and my colleagues. I have been recognized in Super Lawyers as a Washington, D.C."Rising Star" in Intellectual Property for every eligible year since 2017. Throughout my life I have always exhibited a strong interest in learning the details about how things work. This trait led me to patent law and is infused into my patent practice, as well as my philosophy for how I work with my clients. I take personal interest in not only obtaining strong patents for my clients, but also helping maximize the benefit and reach of their inventions.
