About Matt Liston
After qualifying as a solicitor in 2007, I specialised in defending claims against a wide range of professionals. I have been consistently recommended by the Legal 500 for defendant professional negligence work since 2017. I was a founding member of the professional liability team at Mills & Reeve in Leeds, helping to take that team to a top-tier ranking in the Legal 500. In March 2020, I joined Langleys to head up a new professional liability defence team. On 1 February 2021, Kennedys acquired Langleys’ insurance division and opened an office in Leeds. I was the lead professional liability lawyer in Leeds, tasked with building a new professional liability team. The team achieved a ranking in the Legal 500 2022 for defendant professional negligence work. I was also recommended again in the 2022 edition. In April 2022, I joined Starr as a Claims Adjuster in the Financial Lines Claim Team. I have a keen interest in diversity and inclusion issues. I was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Role Model Making an Impact’ category at the 2019 UK Dive In Awards – Dive In is the insurance industry’s global diversity and inclusion festival. I am currently a Social Mobility Foundation mentor.
