About Matt Lucas

Hello there! I am a junior at Boston College pursuing a BS in Computer Science with a Minor in Finance. I am proficient in a number of computer languages: Python, Java, CSS, HTML, SQL, and JavaScript. As a past intern at both Marriott Vacations Worldwide and Brightline Trains, I've been exposed to many facets of various business functions with a specific interest with finance, management, networking, and cybersecurity. With MVW, I worked as an Owner Services Analyst, studying data and providing the business with actionable insights. Utilizing Python, SQL, and DAX to transform and understand data, I helped the team improve efficiency and deliver fruitful business information. At Brightline Trains, I worked with the data engineering team, product management team, help desk, and networking team supporting all of the stations, trains, and customer digital web/apps. I developed Python scripts to deliver important COVID-19 data to executives to improve decision making. In 2019, I founded a non-profit called The Play For Keeps Foundation to reach underserved kids through sports and mentoring. I have continued to manage and work alongside current high school students who have taken the reigns. We strive to continue supporting kids in underserved communities through our programs. At BC I am a member of the Healthy Living Community, promoting college life without drugs and alcohol. I am active in multiple intramural sports, an avid user of our Hatchery MakerSpace, and a TA for Computer Science 2, Java Data Structures and Algorithms.
