About Matt Merrell

Currently serving as the IT Services Director sy Southeastern Idaho Public Health, where I have spent the last 25 years of my career. I specialize in M365 services, M365 security & auditing, SharePoint, Exchange Online, Intune, SOPHOS Endpoint Protection, GoTo Connect, GoTo Resolve, Windows 11, and developing system operating procedures and workflows, trainings, and team management. Previous work at SIPH has included specializing in Active Directory, Group Policy, Secure File Management, Security Audit and Monitoring technologies, SOPHOS Firewalls, Endpoint Management, Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Windows 10 / Server 2019, On Premise Microsoft Exchange Server, Remote Monitoring and Management solutions, workstation and server hardware builds. I also serve as SIPH's HIPAA Security Officer, helping to bring about continuous changes in operations, policies, procedures, and workflows, network security, facility security, security and phishing training, along with overall client confidentiality. In my tenure at SIPH, I have been promoted 3 times, currently serving as the IT Services Director of a small department, and I serve as a member of SIPH's Management Team. I develop the IT Services annual budget, including maintenance contracts, security projects, equipment rotation plans, and both hardware and software purchases. Planning the budget and special projects requires direct work with the Management Team to ensure that a comprehensive Information Technology strategy is continually developed in order to meet the needs of their contracts and staff. I began x86 work in 1993 on DOS 5.0 and Windows 3.1. Became an expert in DOS memory management, frequently able to achieve higher than 620K base memory which allowed for large technical files and programs to successfully load on systems where they normally would not. I began working in the IT field professionally for a small company in 1996. I was introduced to networking and began to specialize in Novell Netware (the networking standard at the time), working for public schools, agencies, private companies, and banks throughout Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah.
