About Matt Ober

As a Managing Partner at Social Leverage, I leverage my 14+ years of experience in data science, financial markets, and alternative investments to identify and support promising fintech and data-driven startups. I am passionate about finding and backing visionary entrepreneurs who are solving real-world problems with cutting-edge technology and data-driven solutions. Before joining Social Leverage, I was the Chief Data Scientist at Third Point LLC, a leading hedge fund with over $20 billion in assets under management. There, I led the development and implementation of data and analytics strategies across the firm, enhancing investment performance, risk management, and operational efficiency. Prior to Third Point, I headed the Data Strategy team at WorldQuant, a global quantitative asset management firm, where I oversaw the sourcing, processing, and analysis of large-scale alternative datasets. While at WorldQuant, I was part of the founding team of WorldQuant Ventures where we invested in early-stage fintech and data technology companies. I started my career working at Bloomberg in the analytics department. I have co-authored a book on practical options strategies for volatile markets, and I regularly write a newsletter at
