About Matt Parks

At times I have been called a bridge. At times I have been called the glue. When in positions of raw software development, my history shows that I am not only a developer cranking out code, but that I look for ways to help the team work together and work with others to meet common goals. When in positions of official leadership, my history shows that I blossom further and I become an ambassador. The various teams within a company sometimes forget they are on the same team. I always strive to spot this within my realm of influence and then correct it. I have no issue with bringing up the hard talks to help get over a conflict. We mustn’t fear this. It is in my blood to build relationships and it is amazing to watch teams grow to become aligned and communicating effectively. For all this talk, I know it can’t be done with just hard-nosed pressure. It has to be done as a family, and with a little fun. I try to always be available. I also can be a goofball at times. Whatever it takes to keep a thriving and fun culture, do that. It all builds upon itself. All of this transcends a single place of business or a business at all. It’s life. When I am not working, I love the challenge of solving twisty puzzles (from standard Rubik’s cubes to wackier types), working on traditional jigsaw puzzles (edges first!), going on sci-fi or high-fantasy reading binges, or generally organizing things around my home (it feels so good). I will occasionally get caught up in a leisure software development project as well, which like these other go-tos makes the sun rise sooner than expected! Perhaps these solo activities are what balance my professional drive for building relationships. Regardless of my current focus, I will put in significant efforts to reach my goals. I am committed and passionate and will stand up, both alone and with others, to forge ahead to reach them and then look to do more. In this, I have proven my professional passion time and time again.
