About Matt Powell

I photograph athletes at the most important moments of their careers and turn those images into content that has impact.I am a sports content creator based in Houston, Texas. My work sits at the intersection of professional photography, graphic design, and brand strategy. I don't just capture the action. I build the visual identity around it. Recruiting profiles, NIL content, social media assets, game coverage, and brand campaigns for athletes and programs who understand that how they are seen determines how far they go.My camera has been courtside for LOVB professional volleyball, NCAA Division I athletics, UIL 6A State Tournaments, and USAV Junior Nationals. My work has been published in 900 Square Feet, the national all-volleyball newsletter. I've covered some of the most recognized names in women's volleyball, including Jordan Larson and Jordan Thompson, and I've watched this sport grow from something my daughters loved into a professional league that fills arenas. What makes my approach different is that I bring more than a camera. I hold a doctorate in Intercultural Studies, which means I understand how to read the culture of a team and create content that resonates within it. I pair photography with branded graphic assets so athletes and programs get a complete visual identity, not just a gallery of images.Whether you are a high school athlete building a recruiting profile, a college athlete pursuing NIL partnerships, a team looking for consistent social media content, or a brand looking for someone who understands the sports content landscape, I would love to talk.Houston, TX | drmattpowell.com |@drmattpowell
