Vice President of Operations - Big Chip Accounting Services The position of VP of Operations is responsible for overseeing and mentoring eight regional controllers and 14 junior accounts as well as growing and developing the accounting and consulting side of Big Chips’ business. It also involves managing client relations for approximately 140 individual clients. Big Chip’s key focus is to help their clients grow their businesses through better financial understanding. Detailed, accurate and timely financial reporting is the cornerstone of their service. The roll of VP of Operations not only includes overseeing the production of these management reports for the client, but also teaching them how to truly understand them and how to use the reports to positively effect their financial results. I have been working in the restaurant business for over 30 years, with food being a love and passion for most of my life. I started out cooking and dishwashing and finished up my time in operations serving and bartending. Leaving operations about 25 years ago after finishing a diploma at BCIT I went to work at the Earls Restaurants corporate office. I filled many roles with Earls including Reginal Controller, US Controller, Corporate Controller and VP of Franchise. Along the way I earned a CPA designation and a degree from Lawrentian University. All this experience has helped me cultivate my knowledge and passion for the industry. That passion and understanding of the business has made me invaluable in my current roll as a consultant in the restaurant industry.
