Former S & ME President, CEO, and Board Chair Matthew Ryan Matthew Ryan was the president, chief executive officer, and chair of the board of directors at S & ME, Inc. As the organization’s first external President and CEO, he oversaw operations in major market sectors including transportation, energy, industrial, manufacturing, general buildings, education, and healthcare. The organization provides world-class technical core services ranging from geotechnical engineering, environmental, materials testing and construction services. Matthew Ryan's passion is in creating shareholder and organizational value having achieved a company stock increase of 54.3% in one year. Matt also developed the company's first commercial sales goal and drove commercial sales to nearly $240 million. His other achievements at S & ME ranged from introducing a 401(k) matching program for all employees to driving down debt from $14 million to zero. Matt is laser focused on creating organizational value drivers of EBITDA, cash, and debt that are communicated to all employees. Matthew Ryan studied finance as an undergraduate at George Mason University. He continued his education at the school, earning a master of business administration. In addition to his professional activities, he held several leadership positions with the Design Professionals Coalition. He was a Division I varsity rower in college and continues to stay physically active through golf, pickleball, long walks, and fishing.
