I have had co-ops and internships with three different companies, all with a focus around manufacturing. The first three co-op semesters were spent with Shepherd Color, a pigment manufacturer in Cincinnati, Ohio. While there, my duties as a chemical engineering co-op included leading small and medium scale projects to improve efficiency, safety, and usefulness. My fourth and fifth co-ops were split between two companies, QualPro and Glass Coatings and Concepts. QualPro is a consulting firm that specializes in quality improvement. While co-oping with them, I assisted in several activities that helped with the improvement of the quality of products and services in several industries. Glass Coatings and Concepts, or GCC, is a glass enamel manufacturer in Monroe, Ohio. My co-op with GCC focused on both projects implementing new equipment around the plant, including a new analytical device to test qualities for enamel. I have had exposure to several different industries and experience working with both production and management throughout my co-ops.
