About Matt Singletary

I currently do full stack Go, Java and C# web development (from tuning database queries to tweaking CSS). I love challenges; problem solving in new domains, learning new technologies/libraries, updating existing legacy applications to keep current, and building my skills. I believe good simple designs (algorithms, APIs, UIs) are some of the best tools for problem solving. Automation and software that increases our confidence (unit testing, continuous integration) need to be leveraged to make development and long term maintenance less risky. I think it is worth the time to find and learn or make the right tool for the job. I love working with teammates to solve problems and learn new and better ways to do anything, from using a new text editor to helping automate things to make things easier for the DBA's and SysadminsI have Agile development experience and think that software needs to be taken seriously as a part of the business process and as a problem solving discipline. Guiding the stakeholder to right solution is as important as the implementation of the technology stack. Specialties: Practical experience programming C#, Java, Javascript, Go, Bash, Groovy, Python, PHP, SQL, XML, XPath, XSLT. I've tinkered with Clojure, Clojurescript, Lua and Ruby.
