About Matt Slabbert

I didn’t set out to work in public affairs, I set out to make science matter. Along the way, I discovered that policy is where science meets society, and that’s where structural, long-lasting impact happens. For the past 17+ years, I’ve worked across global markets to shape access, pricing, and health policy. Today at Astellas, I’m building a new global public affairs function designed to bridge innovation and trust, ensuring breakthrough medicines reach the patients who need them most. What drives me is curiosity: about geopolitics, technology, and economics and how they collide to shape healthcare. I enjoy turning complexity into strategy, and strategy into stories that inspire action by motivating teams and building coalitions. My belief is simple: if we want the future of healthcare to be sustainable, we must lead at the intersection of science and society.
