About Matt Stevens
I graduated from Sonoma State University in 1990 with a Masters Degree in Organization Development. I worked as a consultant for 20 years, with a focus on leadership and organization development, strategic planning, and team building. I began developing and implementing strategies for community engagement in 2001 when I was brought on as a part of a consulting team hired by the SMART Commission to engage with stakeholders and educate the community in preparation for an upcoming sales tax ballot measure. SMART passed a 1/4 percent sales tax in 2008. I was hired as a fulltime SMART staff member in 2012, working on community outreach and education as the SMART District began rebuilding the historic rail corridor and preparing for the resumption of commuter rail service in the SF North Bay Area. I am currently the Acting Communications, Marketing and Customer Service Manager for SMART. Outside of SMART, I enjoy skiing, mountain biking and travelling with my wife. I have two grown children and am a partner in a relic fishing resort located at Priest Lake Idaho.
