About Matt Swanson

Matt Swanson has been involved in mobile and stationary source emission measurement industry for the last 25 years and has a degree from the University of California at San Diego in Philosophy, and minors in Physics and Japanese Studies and where he was captain of the surf team and part of a national championship. He started his emissions career managing testing and laboratory programs for automotive applications as Test Operations Technician while at California Analytical Instruments in Orange, CA. During his time there, Matt worked at maintaining, calibrating, and operating the emissions laboratory as well as commissioned new laboratory equipment around the world including many trips to China, Korea and Europe. He worked through the company as Automotive Test Operations Manager and Automotive Account Manager before transitioning into Sales. Matt held the position of Sale Representative, Southwest Regional Sales Manager, Western Regional Sales, Manager, International Operations Manager, National Sales Support Manager, National Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales. Matt assisted in the development of several innovative products as well as providing training courses on technologies such as chemiluminescence, Non-dispersive infrared, flame ionization, photoacoustic spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. In 2018, he left California Analytical Instruments to work with VIM Technologies in Maryland as the District Manager for the Western United States. There Matt worked with VIM’s data acquisition software and worked with various stationary source industries assist in complying with local, state and federal emissions regulations. These included industries in the petroleum refining, pulp and paper, cement, university co-generation, power plant and other source categories. Knowledge of and awareness to government rulemaking helped in providing services to ensure clients were aware of and meeting all regulations required of them. In 2020, Matt joined Pacific Standard Environmental as an Account Manager. With his experience, he has helped PSE become a continued leader in providing instrumentation service and support for multiple industries. Assisting in emissions systems design, environmental CEMS consulting, DAHS audits and technical training of new and existing staff are some of the current work performed at PSE. Matt regularly attends and has provided multiple presentations for the Stationary Source Sampling and Analysis for Air Pollution conference as well as being the conference chair in 2018.
